Thanks for the suggestions. Calk and glue stick both sound like good possibilities. I've worked with calking but it's really sticky and hard to work with. But it does have the right texture... Any others?

There's this stuff that you can find in craft stores... it's a really thick glss varnish. It is used to seal tabletops, etc., called "Pour-On High Gloss Finish"

It's really, really thick, but still viscous. You could pour some of that in a cup, and let it sit out for a few minutes, watching it... until it got thicker, without setting. When it gets to a goopy stage, you could pour the tentrils down off your top base, and let it hang down like the icicles. Or, wait until it is starting to set, and drip it and pull it down with a toothpick or something.

That stuff dires totally clear and shiny, you can even add pigment to it. It would look really good as icicles. There may be clear resins that would work similarly.

Also, check into that glue called GOOP. I know it's really thick and dries clear, that could work too...

I'd mix up some kind of 2-part epoxy or something... mix until it has the right consistancy... dribble it off and let it dry.

You could clip off any sharp edges or "strings", then take a small brush, a new batch of thinner epoxy, and smear some on the icicles... the bottom would have that round drip look then. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Great suggestions. I was thinking epoxy but was hoping for something thicker. I'll probably try both of those, along with some of the other suggestions until I find something that works.

lay out where u want the icicles with fishing line then apply drops of casting resin to the top of the line...and let it drip.

but yeah, martha steart's tip could work, or for a crappier [img]wink.gif[/img] probably only semi-transparent way, the hot glue would probably be a way to go
